Boxer Scott Westgarth has died following a light heavyweight contest against Dec Spelman at the Doncaster Dome, Doncaster on Saturday night, Westgarth was the victor on points over 10 rounds in a Commonwealth title eliminator, however shortly after the contest he began to fall ill and was rushed to a hospital.
The fight was on the undercard of the main event between ex-footballer turned boxer Curtis Woodhouse and John Wayne Hibbert, which was subsequently canceled following the news Westgarth had fallen ill.
Tributes and condolences have flooded in as the sport now copes with the sad news as yet another tragedy hits the sport. Including his opponent Dec Spelman who stated he is heartbroken at the news.
