According to ESPN’s Dan Rafael, Tyson Fury will not face Deontay Wilder in his next fight, according to Rafael, Fury’s new promoters Top Rank, with whom Fury signed a multi-fight deal last week will parade their new signing for a bout in May or June and will then seek a heavyweight title rematch with Wilder in the fall.

The WBC had ordered an immediate rematch between Fury and Wilder last month and had given a deadline for both camps to provide clarification by Wednesday evening this week, Rafael claims a source with knowledge of the situation has stated that Top Rank has informed the WBC that their intention is for Fury to fight in the summer with a view to a rematch with Wilder in the fall.

Sources also state that Top Rank is keen to sign Wilder on a multi-fight deal which would include the Fury rematch, this news will be a big disappointment to boxing fans, however, the writing was on the wall when Fury signed with ESPN/Top Rank which immediately cast doubt over the plausibility of an immediate rematch.

Wilder claims he is a free agent, however usually fights on Showtime, Anthony Joshua fights on Sky/DAZN and now Fury is signed with ESPN/Top Rank, making the biggest fights in boxing now becomes more complicated due to the politics of TV networks and contracts.
