In Sochi, Russia, Murat Gassiev advanced to the world boxing super series final with a brutal 12th round knockout of Cuban Yunier Dorticos, he will now face Oleksandr Usyk in the final on May 11th in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

It was a competitive fight early on with Gassiev spending most of the early rounds on the back foot whilst Dorticos attempted to take the fight to his opponent, both having spurts of success.

However eventually Gassiev began to take control of the fight, and in the 12th round landed a left hook counter that should have ended the fight there and then but for the courage of Dorticos who had shown toughness throughout the fight and somehow managed to get to his feet and continue

The rest of the final round Gassiev head hunted his opponent and with seconds remaining in the round landed a shot which sent Dorticos, through the ropes, out of the ring and well and truly out of the fight, ending proceedings there and then.

Gassiev unified the IBF and WBA cruiserweight titles in the process and when he meets Usyk in the final they will contest with all the belts on the line to become the undisputed, lineal cruiserweight champion of the world.
