In San Antonio, Texas Saturday night Mikey Garcia defeated Sergey Lipinets by unanimous decision to become a four weight world champion, picking up the IBF world super lightweight title.

Garcia dropped Lipinets for the first time in his career and overcame his tough and game opponent by scorecards of 116-111 and 117-110 (twice) to cement his place as one of the best pound for pound fighters active in the sport today.

Garcia still holds the WBC lightweight title and it is unsure whether he will remain at 140 pounds or drop back down to lightweight where fights against Vasyl Lomachenko and Jorge Linares have been mentioned.

Garcia has previously stated he feels he is a better fighter at lightweight, however, showed tonight he is good enough to win world titles at 140 lbs, showing why he is highly regarded as one of the best technicians in the game.
