Tyson Fury set to fight Tom Schwarz in Las Vegas

Sources have told ESPN that unbeaten German heavyweight Tom Schwarz is Tyson Fury’s first opponent under his new mega deal with ESPN and Top Rank.

The fight will take place on June 15th, with the likely venue being the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Schwarz fought earlier this month in Germany scoring a 2nd round KO against Kristijan Krstacic. Schwarz is ranked #2 with the WBO with Fury ranked #4. This could mean Fury is targeting the WBO route to champion Anthony Joshua, or it could just be they wanted a name that is high in the rankings before pushing for a big fight. The heavyweight landscape is far from simple.

This will be Fury’s first outing since his controversial draw with Deontay Wilder in December, a fight many felt Tyson won.

Schwarz is probably most known for his bizarre DQ win over Senad Gashi (due to headbutts). Gashi tried to continue fighting which resulted in a ring riot:
